For patients
What to expect
No surprises. Here's how a case typically moves from the first call to the last follow-up.

- 1
Before you arrive
We'll ask for your health history, medications, and insurance information so nothing has to be sorted out in the waiting room. If your dentist referred you, we request records and images ahead of time.
- 2
Your consultation
A periodontal exam, 3D imaging when it's needed, and a conversation about what we found. You'll hear the options — including doing nothing yet — and what each one involves.
- 3
The plan and the cost
You leave with a written treatment plan and an estimate that reflects your benefits. Financing through third-party lenders is available if you want to spread payments out.
- 4
Treatment day
Most procedures are done under local anesthesia, allowing our patients to drive home themselves. We understand that periodontal treatment can come with anxiety. That's why we offer sedation to help patients receive the care they need, worry free. Plan for someone to drive you home if you're sedated.
- 5
Recovery
You'll get written post-op instructions and a number to call. Most patients manage with over-the-counter pain relief and are back to normal activity within a day or two.
- 6
Follow-up and handoff
We check healing, then send a report to your general dentist and return you for restorative work and routine care.
Common questions
If yours isn't answered here, call us — we'd rather talk it through than have you guess.
Do I need a referral?
No. Many patients come from their general dentist, but you can schedule with us directly.
Will it hurt?
Procedures are done with local anesthesia, and sedation options are available. Most post-operative discomfort is managed by with medications prescribed following the procedure. For most procedures, ibuprofen or tylenol is all that is needed. All prescriptions will be reviewed with patients prior to departure from our office.
What does insurance cover?
Transcend is in network with Delta Dental, Cigna, and HealthChoice. We will file and accept most dental insurance plans with out-of-network status. Because every plan is different, the amount your insurance covers will depend on your specific benefits, deductible, annual maximum, frequency limitations, exclusions, and other plan requirements. Before treatment, our team will work closely with your insurance company to review your benefits and provide the best available estimate of what your plan may pay. We will also submit claims and provide any information reasonably needed to help your claim process smoothly. Please remember that benefit information and pre-treatment estimates are not guarantees of coverage or payment. Insurance companies make the final coverage decision after reviewing the completed claim. Patients are ultimately responsible for the full cost of treatment, including any amount not paid by insurance. We will explain your estimated costs as clearly as possible before treatment so you can make an informed decision about your care.
How long does an implant take?
Placement is usually one appointment. Healing before the final crown typically takes a few months, though timelines vary by case.

We also file claims for most other PPO plans as an out-of-network provider.
